Materials
- red felt (from Amazon or Michaels)
- olive green felt (from Amazon or Michaels)
- black stamens: 6 per flower (from Amazon)
- black beads: 1 per flower (from Amazon or Michaels)
- green pipe cleaners: 1 per flower (from Amazon or Michaels)
- scissors
- glue gun (for attaching poppy leaf)
Steps
Step 1
Print out the Poppy Template.
Cut the red felt according to the Poppy Flower Template, the smaller "A" petal and the larger "B" petal.
Cut the green felt according to the Poppy Leaf Template.
Fold each felt petal in half, and make a very small snip at the middle of the fold.
Step 2
Thread a black bead about 1 inch into the green pipe cleaner (1).
Fold the 1 inch of pipe cleaner around the bead. Take 6 black stamens and slip it under the black bead (2).
Twist the end of the pipe cleaner around itself until the bead and stamens are secured to the pipe cleaner (3+4).
Step 3
Thread felt petal A (smaller) through the end of the pipe cleaner.
Gently pull petal A to the very top, right next to the bead.
Then do the same for petal B, positioning petal B so that it is perpendicular to petal A.
Step 4
Cut off 2 inches of pipe cleaner from the end of the pipe cleaner (1).
Fold the 2 inch pipe cleaner into a "V" shape. Place the "V" shape pipe cleaner right against the petal (2).
Twist it around tightly two times (3).
Fold the "V" shape up against the petal so that the poppy petals are pushed upwards (4).
Step 5
Take the felt poppy leaf and put a drop of hot glue at the tip of the leaf.
Press the leaf onto the bottom of petal B so that the leaf sticks out at the edge of the poppy.
