Bluebonnet Lupine Felt Flower Craft
Introduction
The Texas bluebonnet (Lupinus texensis) is the state flower of Texas!
Bring the meadow indoors with these beautiful bluebonnet lupine felt flowers!
Materials
- craft felt
: lavender and purple, or purple and light blue
- green pipe cleaners
- mini glue gun
- scissors
- template for bluebonnet flower
Steps
Step 1
Print template for bluebonnet flower.
Cut from lavender felt: 3 small petals and 3 medium petals according to template
Cut from purple felt: 3 large petals according to template.
Step 2
Add a dab of hot glue from the glue gun to the straight edge of the large petal.
Fold the petal in half so that the hot glue sticks on itself. Hold until the glue has dried.
Repeat this for the remaining 5 large petals.
Step 3
Dab 3 drops of hot glue, evenly distributed around the top of the pipe cleaner.
Take a small petal and put the straight edge of the petal, tip facing upwards, on a dab of hot glue along the pipe cleaner.
Repeat for the other two small petals.
Step 4
Continue to make the second layer of the bluebonnet.
Put 3 dabs of hot glue on the pipe cleaner, at alternating spaces between and under where the small petals were placed.
Stick the straight edge of a medium petal, tip facing upwards, onto a dab of hot glue, along the pipe cleaner.
Repeat for the other two medium petals.
Step 5
Put 3 dabs of hot glue on the pipe cleaner, at alternating spaces between and under where the medium petals were placed.
Stick the straight edge of a large petal onto a dab of hot glue, along the pipe cleaner.
Repeat with the other two large petals.
Step 6
Finally, put 3 dabs of hot glue on the pipe cleaner, at alternating spaces between and under where the large petals were placed.
Stick the straight edge of a large petal onto a dab of hot glue, along the pipe cleaner.
Repeat with the other two large petals. 
Step 7
For extra variation, you can add one more layer of large petals or you can use a different color combination. This bouquet has bluebonnets made from lavender and purple felt, as well as from purple and light blue felt.
